YCat Training : Level One
YCat Level One is an intensive ten-day program that provides 90 Yoga Alliance hours and includes some pre-program preparation and reading assignments. The program provides medical and scientific rationales for each aspect of the curriculum, along with Swami Satchidanada’s interpretation of the Yoga Sutras as they apply to dealing with pain and suffering, illness and disease, life and death, and daily challenges. The entire program of 300-hours is included as part of the Integral Yoga Advanced Certification Program. www.iyta.org/Advanced-Certification
Curriculum & Lectures:
• Cancer Treatments —e.g., surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapies, and targeted and hormonal therapies
•Common side effects —e.g., lymphedema, fatigue, pain, nausea, neuropathy, menopause, osteoporosis, digestive and sleep disorders
• Exploring adaptations in Yoga —e.g., postures and movement, breathing practices, meditation, Yoga Nidra, guided imagery as well as use of sound and ritual for healing for use in common chronic illnesses, aging and end of life, with specific adaptation suggestions, examining case studies and adaptions
• Studying the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali —e.g., applications to illness and aging, examining one’s personal relationship with death, dying, and end of life.
• Yoga & Cancer Research —e.g., reviewing and analyzing related Yoga and cancer research
• Communcation Skills —e.g., creating Therapeutic Relationships, developing a professional voice for working with medical personnel

YCat Training : Level Two
YCat Level Two is an extended period of supervision and mentoring as intern teachers apply the YCat principles while conducting course classes and private Yoga sessions for people with cancer. Interns interview, assess, plan, perform, document, evaluate, and report via e-mail and phone with YCat faculty. These classes are taught within the teacher’s community. The internship is individualized to meet the needs of the teacher while fulfilling the requirements for completion. Further teaching includes creating marketing tools, building relationships in the medical community, research and continuing education in the field of Yoga and oncology with an emphasis on individual self care.
The cost of the internship is $2,250 and payment plans are available.
YCat Training : Level Three
YCat Level Three is a unique teaching tool within the YCat curriculum. The retreat is a three to five day symposium designed for YCat intern teachers to deepen their knowledge base and experience. Level Three teachers design and deliver group and private Yoga sessions for people with cancer and their caregivers and are mentored by YCat faculty. Prerequisite: completion of Level One and enrollment in the Level Two Internship. Past retreats have occurred at Satchidananda Ashram-Yogaville, Richmond VA, Chicago, Il, Sewanee TN and Cincinnati, OH. The tuition for Level Three is $600 plus room and board (depends on location.)
